FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Where should I go with those plastic straps?

The answer is different for each country. The waste product and its cost do not allow, for example, to drive from Poland to Belgium with chips. We have our contacts in the world of recycling and are happy to help you with a more specific answer depending on your place of residence and the volume you have to process.

How are these machines maintained?

The concept is designed in such a way that any technician can maintain these machines. There are video tutorials available (English spoken), which explain step by step how to proceed. If that does not work, we are also there with our technical staff.

What is the lifespan of the blades?

The blades of our smallest machines are made of carbide and will last a lifetime. You may not cut any other material than PET or PP strap with it or you will lose the warranty. The blades for the series 300 and higher are made of HSS material and have 4 cutting edges. Turning a blade takes between ¼ and ½ hour.

For standard users in PET material we have customers who turn the blades once every other year. Other customers have had their machine for 20 years and have never changed it.

When you nibble steel strap, the wear is much more important and we cannot answer you exactly if we do not know the correct information about that steel strap and its quantity.

Why do I have to pay someone to put those tapes into the machine?

Because the alternative is to crumple the straps into thick plastic bags. These bags get in the way and you also pay to have them removed.

Because you can do something good for the environment by shortening the straps and making them possible to recycle.

Because it is the only way to have your staff keep your business clean. Without a strap chopper, the straps will stay where they are. If someone falls over them, the insurance company will come and see why someone could fall over a strap, ...

Does a chopper make a lot of noise?

This is a difficult question to answer. If you nibble PET bands one by one or in a bundle of 10 at a time, the sound is completely different. If the chips fall into a plastic bag or into a steel container, there is a difference. If the container is half full, the sound is much less.

Where the machine is located also makes a difference. Is the machine in a large hall or a small outbuilding, …

Following the CE standard, sound measurements have been carried out and we maintain 85Dba as the maximum sound level. So it can't hurt to use hearing protection.

Can I also nibble on steel strapping and what do I do with the seals?

Our models CE 300 and above nibble both materials with or without seals. The smaller machines are a lighter model and cannot process steel.
